Biman Bangladesh Airlines (airline code BG), is the national carrier of Bangladesh, based at Dhaka's Shahjalal Airport.

Ownership

The airline was set up by the Bangladeshi government in 1972 and became a PLC in 2007 with the government retaining control. It is planned to offer a 49% stake to the private sector.

Route Network

Biman is re-establishing its European network after acquiring brand new long-haul aircraft. It serves London, Manchester, Milan and Rome as well as major Asian cities like Hong Kong and Singapore.

As well as its main hub, the airline has secondary bases at Sylhet's Osmani International Airport and Shah Amanat airport in Chittagong.

Other Information

Biman is undertaking a fleet renewal programme to replace many of its older aircraft after signing a deal with Boeing. Orders will include the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from 2019.
