Yemenia
Yemenia (airline code IY) is the national airline of Yemen, based in the capital, Sana'a with another hub at Aden. The airline was originally set up as Yemen Airways in 1949.
Ownership
In 1978, a 49% stake in Yemen Airways was sold to the government of Saudi Arabia and Yemenia was formed. The controlling shareholding remains with the Yemen government.
Route Network
Yemenia has a network covering the Middle East, Africa and Europe, although the latter may be in some doubt following an accident in June 2009 which prompted the European Union to voice safety concerns.
Other Information
Yemenia has placed a provisional order for up to 10 new generation wide-body Airbus A350s for delivery from 2012.
