Tiger Airways (airline code TT) is a no-frills airline based at Singapore's budget airline terminal and which is modelled on Ryanair. Set up in 2004, Tiger Airways operates in Asia Pacific, India, China and Australia using one-class short-haul aircraft.

Ownership

The Tiger Aviation Group's shareholders are Singapore Airlines (49%), Indigo Partners LLC, an investment firm founded by Bill Franke (24%); Irelandia Investments Limited, the private investment arm of Tony Ryan and family (16%) and Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd (11%).

Route Network

Tiger Airways operates to more than 35 destinations in 10 countries. Although it is based in Singapore, the establishment of a sister company, Tiger Airways Australia, based in Melbourne, means it can operate domestically in Australia, where it has an extensive network.

Other Information

Tiger Airways has two aircraft types, the Airbus A319 and A320. You will have to pay extra for onboard food, entertainment and to take hold luggage. Charges are also made for seat selection and carriage of sport equipment. Tiger Airways has 50 new Airbus aircraft on order, which will grow its fleet to 70 aircraft, making it one of the region's largest and fastest growing low fare airlines.
