Flight search
Economy seating on South African Airways' long-haul fleet offers a standard 31 or 32 inch pitch on some aircraft and a generous 33, and in some cases, 34 inches on others.
On A340-200s, seat pitch is 31-32 inches and entertainment is via overhead and mainscreen.
The A340-300 and -600 aircraft offer a minimum 33-inch pitch with personal TVs. These have Audio-Video-On-Demand systems and telephones at every seat.
Food service includes a choice of two main courses accompanied by South African wines.

On the way out I had seat 74C which was pretty comfortable. Flying back I made a mess of my booking and ended up with the last seat - a middle one. With a large german businessman on the aisle and a large inexperienced male traveller in the adjoining centre.
