Scoot is the working name for a budget long-haul airline from Singapore Airlines. The airline will be based in Changi airport, Singapore and begin flying in April 2012.

Ownership

Scoot is 100% owned by the Singapore Airline Group.

Route Network

Scoot will launch with a Singapore to Sydney route and will target destinations that are more than four hours from Singapore. Potential ones include Australasia, China, Korea and Japan. Later plans may include the UK and Europe as well as West Asia, including India; plus the Gulf States.

Other Information

Scoot will have an initial fleet of four Boeing 777-200 aircraft in a very dense seating layout carrying around 400 passengers. It is planned that the fleet will be expanded to 16 by 2016.

A radical idea is that in-flight entertainment will be via passengers' own laptop computers, as there will be no seatback TVs. This will reduce weight and so save fuel.

There will be three classes of travel: Scoot Biz, FlyBagEat, FlyBag and Fly. These class descriptions pretty much do what they say on the tin, with Fly offering bare bones travel. For more information about the classes click the Classes tab above.
