DaleS123 flew Lufthansa First, on a A380-800 (12/03/2012 10:45)
The A-380 is truly amazing and Lufthansa does First Class right on this airplane. From the moment I arrived at the First Class terminal in FRA until I reached JNB the next day, I was treated with the utmost courtesy.
I took the advice of another website and booked seat 1A. Rather than clutter the cabin with overhead bins each seat has its own closet and the closet for 1A & 1K are located just forward of the seat. This made it very convenient to get to anything I needed during the flight.
I’ve been able to fly first on several different international carriers and these seats are by far the best. They are nice and wide with infinite adjustability. Even the ottoman is adjustable fore and aft to accommodate for the height challenged.
LH knows how to treat the Premium passenger and this all comes through as the service on board as well as on the ground was impeccable.

akingunday flew Lufthansa Economy, on a A380-800 (09/10/2011 09:11)
I never seen such a worst service and arrogant service staff in my life.
I paid extra for this A380 flight, FRA-JFK, Oh my God the plane was African immigration carrier (I have no problem with Africans or immigrants, I am self immigrant) full crying children, it is also OK. I have kindly asked to change my seat. I asked I want to sleep just for 1 hour, please , whole flight crying children, and she said NO, you have to stay your seat. OK, but plane has many quite seats. I need to rest. German Gest... Hostess said NO.
When I asked why, she said; no need to answer, and do I need to call in flight security?
I said just wanna sleep for an hour. for this discussion she was very angry. who is the customer and who is the host.
Shortly: UNHAPPY FLIGHT, unhappy A380 experience.

FrustratedRegistration flew Lufthansa Business, on a A380-800 (26/04/2011 11:31)
I arrived on a connecting flight from LHR (which I won't review). Transfer from the arrival gate to the departure gate was like a slow motion marathon but I got there in the end.
For the A380 LH / FRA have built a new wing on the airport which separates economy from premium passengers at an early stage so the entire upper level of the building is supposed to be business/first. Well, if you blindfolded someone and took them there they would probably guess they were in standard airport cafe. I arrived 90 mins prior to departure and got the last easy chair. After that it was hard metal chairs for all other "premium" passengers. Very thin on the drinks and food.
Boarding was very swift. Many people have criticised the seat for being not fully flat but having flown on BA Club World many times I would say that what the LH seat lacks in not being fully flat it makes up for in having so much more space around it. BA's flat bed is good for sleeping unless you want to bend your knees or elbow in which case you bang your joints on the "coffin" wall.
The aircraft itself is very quiet. I was almost in the back row but still found it peaceful.
The crew were very cordial but surprisingly slow; they seem not to be allowed to get out of their seats until the aircraft has levelled out at cruising altitude.
The food was very good but the wine was poor and the drinks were terrible using some brands I'd never heard of and others I only knew because I had said "wow, that's cheap" in a duty free shop!
Disembarkation was swift and my bag was waiting for me when I got to the belt.
Having heavily criticised the new lounge above I should say the SAA Baobab lounge in JNB was very nice and the newly re-furbished LH lounge at terminal 1B was also very shiny and peaceful. I used the arrival lounge in FRA on the way back which was also very good; you will see it said that you cannot use the arrival lounge if you are not ending your journey in FRA but if you have a friendly passport and time to kill there is nothing to stop you using it.

Narita to Frankfurt - wish I'd paid the extra money to fly business class! Crammed in the lower deck with 419 other people, it was plain uncomfortable for the whole eleven and a half hours.
The whole airplane seemed to be designed for Asians. Narrow seat, small seat pitch, the seat back of the passenger in front of your face most of the time, except at meal times when the attendant ordered him to sit up.
Boarding was reasonably quick but de-planing was a long drawn-out process, not helped by a number of first-time passengers, and an absence of instructions from staff.
Service and meals were good, but not much space for it, juggling items between the table and the seat pocket.
Flew back from Munich on a 340-600 much better. Never again in a 380!

What a disappointment!. 1st and 2nd flight on an A380 FRA to JNB and JNB to FRA and low and behold Lufthansa has not installed "flat beds" in business class. It is a case of "slip sliding" down the seat. Headrest keeps slipping down as well and whoever thought up the wonderful idea of inserting the personal reading lamp in the winglet of the headrest. Lufthansa is a premium airline and to invest in the A380 the way it has done and not include state of the art seating is questionable business sense, especially when it is understood that the seating will be upgraded in the next couple of years. I understand Singapore has done it in a sensible way.

I had the pleasure to fly with the new Airbus from Beijing to Frankfurt; it was a nice flight, very quiet, as the plane is far more silent than the 747, but I was totally disappointed by the Lufthansa business class on that plane, as, apart from the 2-2-2 configuration, there was no difference with the business class on older planes: same, non fully reclining seat, relatively small screen, short distance between rows (if you are not in the middle row, you have to step over your neighbour or be stepped over), same food without fantasy, but a good and efficient service.
