More
Lufthansa is one of the major players in the first class market and has invested heavily in both the onboard product and supporting ground infrastructure over the past decade.
First class is now available on nearly all Lufthansa’s long-haul flights. The Sleeper seat, standard across the fleet, converts to a fully flat bed with a width of 20.5 inches (54cm).
Lufthansa's new first class product on its fleet of Airbus A380s is in an open plan style with a fully flat bed which is 81" long and 31.5" wide. This will then be retrofitted on its older aircraft.
However this new product was not a good fit for the carriers B747-400s so capacity was reduced from 16 to eight with the aisle seat remaining and a supplementary fully flat bed in place of the window seat. This product will intially be rolled out across 10 aircraft before being rolled out across the entire B744 fleet. To see the product, click here.
On board the A330s and A340s is a 1-2-1 configuration with a pitch of 84 inches (213cm).
In 2004, Lufthansa opened a dedicated First Class Terminal (FCT) at its Frankfurt base and a corresponding lounge at Munich. Services at the FCT include a personal assistant to take care of check-in, private bathrooms and a limousine transfer to the aircraft (click here for a full report).
Lufthansa Media World, an AVOD in-flight entertainment system, is available in business and first class. Options include a wide selection of movies, 100 CDs, audiobooks, radio programmes, computer games and language courses.

Swissdiver flew Lufthansa First, on a B747-400 (Config. 1)
FRA-IKA, January 2012 Since I was connecting at FRA and had a 3+ hours layover, I made my way to the First Class Terminal. A great and commendable experience that is however equaled by the First Class lounge in the B sector that can be reached without a long walk outside (at FRA they send a car to pick transiting First passengers up only when the plane is not docked).... more

Flew the upgraded B747 where they only assign two seats per passenger. The extra seat can be used for sperading out items to be used in flight and then made up into a dedicated bed for sleeping by the FA. The idea works great. Most opted for the bed being made up after takeoff and simply swapped the inflight working stuff, books, papers, laptop etc. over to their... more
