Nonsense flew LOT Polish Airlines Economy, on a B767-300ER (06/02/2012 17:37)

I flew on this airlines quite a few times now. September 2011 was my last EVER flight with LOT Polish Airlines.

Why? I carried some gifts for my family members in my luggage, after landing in my destination, luggage was missing a lock which at that point it didnt raised my concerns, until I got home and they were nowhere to be found. I called LOT and even visited their offices - no help at all, not even an apology. Worst customer service ever! And exactly what can you expect is being rubbed. Here are my flight details. JFK-WAW-JFK 09/2011. I dont even wait for their Dreamliner Delivieries. Flight comfort might be better with 787 but you can still get rubbed using this air carrier.

I was flying from Warsaw to JFK and the flight wasn't too bad.

I was sitting in Economy class and there wasn't a lot of legroom but the seat was fine for sitting. It was horrible for sleeping though. The crew seemed pretty nice and there were 3 meals on that 9 hour flight.

The airline isn't punctual at all, my flights (I've been on 6 with this aircraft) all of them were at least 30 minutes late, but I guess that's just LOT.

To say it shortly average flight rate 3.5 out of 6 the food and seats could be better.

Good seats, soft. Should have a better selection of drinks and real food instead of a sandwich.

Check in was swift and there was priority boarding at the gate. The plane was old but the seat as comfortable as most on a typical short-haul European route.

Service was good. A drinks service with peanuts followed by breakfast. This was rather a mixed affair. A hot muffin, breads, fruit, pate and jam with two Lindt Lindor chocolate balls to conclude!

The flight was on time. I had no luggage so cannot comment about this. The Lounge used in Heathrow is the Star lounge in T1 which is good and has a good selection of food.

The lounge in Warsaw is operated by the airport and whilst it has free wifi there is nothing special about the food selection.

How can this airline be a major member of Miles and More program/Lufthansa family? This is a old eastern Europe airline and you get a service that always reminds you of that.

LOT doesn´t support electronically APIS registration before departure. You have to wait and wait at a crowdy and chaotic gate in Warsaw aiport. No special line for business class passengers or Star Gold card holders and very unfriendly attitude among ground staff. Boarding is very chaotic. It reminds me of the old days when flying Aeroflot. Not possible to board first as business class passenger.

All passengers are also passing business class cabin through Warszaw airport have double airbridge possibility. Seat is lie flat but very poorly (it's not really flat). Upholstery is quite nice but seats are very dirty and teared. Some seats frequently stop working. Some staff speak very bad English and the purser on the flight from WAW to JFK didn't make any understandable announcements. Is it still possible to become a purser without knowledge of English?

Food is more like economy class. The staff do serve the food very quick and efficiently so there will be plenty of time for relaxing or working. IFE is extremely poor. old movies and music. Not integrated in your seat. They deliver separately IFE machines that have very poor sound quality and you can not expect to hear properly. Business class cabin is only 3 rows 2+2+2. Strangely 2 seats (3A+B) is occupied by staff members surrounded by a curtain. Do they not have a separate rest area for staff??. The pilot sleeping in the cabin was snoring loudly and kept all cabin awake.

Food was not of normal business class qulity, even though they advertise that a major chef from one of Warwaw´s finest hotel had composet it. Quite tasteless and no vegeterian alternative available. Before landning very poor snack was served. At JFKIi didn´t get my luggage. Nobody from LOT were there helping me. I had to phone LOT ticket office and they gave me numer to WAW airport and a polish spoken service agent (I don't speak Polish). The person was very unfriendly and not interested in helping me. Finally I found a very nice English spoken person at the LOT call center that wanted to help me and call the Polish lost luggage staff and explain the situation. LOT is a major member of Lufthansa/SWISS/Austrian miles and more, but do not offer any help trogh LH Gold/Senator hotline. So you can not expekt any help with situations like this.

I am sorry to say but I can not recommend LOT business class since they don´t offer what todays business class passenger need. I heard from one of the more talented ground staff that LOT means Late OR Tomorrow and that´s the spirit that inspires the staff. I would recommend SWISS that has better fares than LOT and a way lot better service all over.

At Heathrow they use BMI for check in /boarding. The onboard meal is usually very good. The seat pretty standard. The aircraft are older than most and they don’t have winglets. If considering LOT for point to point (i.e., LHR – WAW) do look at other airlines as they are much cheaper. Consider BA and from October 09 Aer Lingus.

Seat 7C which was the third row of Economy. Legroom felt spacious and I felt it was a bit more than some other European carriers. My early morning flight had a drinks service and food was a reasonable size ham roll. Despite being a flight from Warsaw there were a choice of English newspapers to read. Boarding seemed to start late but was efficient and we departed on time.

I was in 4C which on my plane was the last row of Business. The seat seems the same as economy but perhaps with a little more legroom. There is a pre-take off drink and my breakfast consisted of cake, a small filled croisant, plate of grapes and selection of breads with jam and pate. Service was good.
