March 8 2010: Gulf Air's Embraer E170 aircraft embarked on its maiden voyage today, flying between Bahrain and Larnaca in Cyprus. It is the first time regional jets have flown as part of Gulf Air's main fleet, and makes possible the airline's hope of one day serving every Arab capital with a double-daily service.
Gulf Air has taken delivery of two Embraer E170s as part of a three-year lease agreement, with the option to extend it for a further five years.
The 67-seat Embraer E170s have "luxuriously-appointed" all-leather interiors, with no middle seats (2-2 configuration) throughout.
The Falcon Gold section will comprise of seven seats offering a 52" pitch and PC power points.
Economy seating offers a 31" pitch.
All seats will feature AVOD IFE with more than 3,000 video titles and music channels.
Gulf Air plans to deploy E170s on several routes including Larnaca, Istanbul, Athens, Erbil, Baghdad and Muscat.
