Gulf Air is set to launch a hybrid business/first class product, called Falcon Gold.

While seating capacity and configuration is not yet known, we can reveal that the A330-300 (due for delivery in 2011) and the A340-200 will feature Gulf Air's new Falcon Gold full-flat bed, yet to be unveiled.

But Gulf Air passengers will not have to wait until next year to experience Falcon Gold's service. The premium product (but not the new seat) takes to the air from March 1, which according to Gulf Air will offer "the very best elements" of its first class for the price of business class (see Business Traveller's report, link below). Passengers will be seated in either business or first depending on the flexibility of ticket purchased.

On the A320, Gulf Airs seats are old and need refurbishment. I have to admit though that they are some of the widest seats available for intra gulf flight. more
