Finnair's long-haul economy product is currently being revamped as it takes delivery of new Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
The new economy seating on the A340 is in two cabins, with a 2-4-2
configuration. Towards the back as the plane narrows, this becomes 2-3-2. All are fitted with seatback TV screens.
The economy seats are comfortable, but the armrests have a
hollowed out section, so the control for the AVOD IFE can be seen. While
this is useful, it also means it is uncomfortable to rest your elbows
on the armrests. There is in-seat power, even in economy, in the form
of a plug socket on the leg between the seats.
Economy Class includes a meal service that depends on the duration of the flight and time of the day. You also receive a bottle of fresh spring water when you board the aircraft. During the film presentation passengers can obtain beverages from the rear kitchen, except on the Bangkok route, where alcohol is served from the trolley only. In addition, snacks listed in the Finnair Entertainment brochure can be purchased.
Some drinks, including sparkling
wine, cognac, whisky, vodka, liqueurs and gin must be paid for.
