My wife and I have just travelled to New Zealand with Emirates business class. On our journey we encountered 5 different seating types across the fleet. Our journey from Auckland to Dubai was on the A340-500. The seats on this aircraft type leave a lot to be desired. I might almost say that they are the most uncomfortable business class seats we have had the misfortune to sit in. A great shame because the other aircraft seats were either very good or excellent. 18 hours on the A340 was purgatory. TRAVELLERS BE WARNED.

My wife and I recently travelled Dubai to Brisbane in economy class: a long flight of over 13 hours. We were in Row 38,middle section. I had the aisle seat and my wife was in the inside seat. The flight was fully booked. the seats were probably the most uncomfortable airline seats we have ever encountered. Neither of us are tall (about 5feet 6 inches in the old scale) and our legs did not touch the floor so the pressure on our legs was significant and more so as the flight went on. To try and relieve it I put some shoes under my feet and that helped. The service was good under the circumstances:as I said the flight was fully booked and the hosties were working quite hard.

Flew DXB-KIX on 01/02/09, this aircraft offers superb privacy and you arrive relaxed and refreshed. Service was excellent, another good performance.

Superb 1st class cabin, very private and able to get ultimate sleep when travelling from SYD to DXB. But some of the planes now very shabby.
