pixielonghaul flew Eva Air Elite (premium economy), on a B777-300ER (04/02/2012 07:43)

I have flown Biz and Premium, better known as "Elite" with EVA. On my last flight in Biz I was disturbed for most of the night by noisy staff bashing the crockery and cutlery around ; so this time I elected to travel in Elite and boy was I glad I did.

There was obviously co-pilot assessments going on in Biz Class and from the passenger I spoke to on arrival they were not amused. I was fine in Elite, fabulous seating though looking a little jaded but still comfortable. Service was excellent but the ladies found it hard to crack a smile which is unusual.

Food much better than in Biz Class but a little too sweet for me, however the nice young man sitting next to me much appreciated my left overs. He had flown from Seattle on route to Thailand and upgraded to Elite in Taipei. He was a very tall man and found the seating fantastic and the price difference is minimal to get that extra comfort.

My check in at Taipe was smooth as I had already booked in online and I very much appreciated that my bag was lifted onto the scales. As I am now retired I have never before found ground staff so helpful and again it started my journey off without the aggravation of struggling with bags. Boarding was almost on time just a few minutes delay.

Flight arrival was delayed due to Bangkok airport being very busy, so we had a lovely low level tour around a big lake and over some beautiful hills before a smooth run into the airport.

My bags were through very quickly and I was off on my long awaited holiday. Ten days later I experienced my first check in at Bangkok and again I was helped with bags, didn't have any wait and was on my way through security in no time at all. The Eva Staff on duty at the check in were very pleasant and most helpful.

Boarding was smooth for my return flight which was uneventful. Seating excellent, food reasonable though again beverages in short supply. For anyone considering using Premium Economy all I can say is that it is well worth the little extra to pay and arrive well rested.

The seating is almost as good as in Biz but not the leg room of Biz. For a person who is wide at the hips then these seats are so much more comfortable than in econmy. I shall certainly be using EVA Elite Premium for future short or long haul trips.

A useful tip for anyone travelling from Europe to Asia and visa versa. On the ticket for baggage it states 20 kilo but with Elite you can take up to 26 kilo, however for some regulation they are not permitted to put a higher rate! Well worth checking with the airline direct to ensure exactly what the weight restrictions are. Different weights for the Americas.

stevescoots flew Eva Air Premium Laurel (business), on a B777-300ER (25/01/2012 04:53)

23/1/12 Business class for £357. lounge is the main Evergreen lounge in T2, pleanty of space comfy seats and food selection. Free wifi.

Aircraft was a 777-300, spotlessly clean and well maintained cabin. Staff were attentative, but not intrusive, i think I pressed the call button 3 times for tea and water and each time they were there within a minute. Config is 2+2+2 and I was in a bulkhead window seat. Bags of room, very well padded seat. Not lay flat but inclined flat which was more than adequeate for the 4.5 hour hop. seat had power point. IFE was ok with a resonable selection of english language films. If it was a real long hual I probably woudl have wanted more choice (if i hadnt already seen almost every film there is!)

I slept through about 2.5 hours they did not wake me for the meal but as soon as I woke they asked if I was ready to eat. I was about an hour after food was served but the full choice was available. Food was ok, not fantastic but adequate and tasty, not dried out. served in preprepared dishes.

I have always found Eva to be good on the HKG-TPE route but this is my first time with them doing a longer run. I would definatly use them again on that leg or others. If thier prices were ok on the London-TPE route I would use them there...unfortuantaly they are up there with Cathay/BA et/al on prices for that. I recommend them..but tehy could do with tidying up thier website, it works fine but is very...how to say ..busy with junk which make navigation a bit tedious.

Alplaner flew Eva Air Elite (premium economy), on a B777-300ER (31/03/2011 11:07)

Undoubtly, the Eva Air elite class is the perfect choice for those who want higher flying quality rather sitting in the narrow economy class.

I flew once from TPE-LAX, and my overall rating is fantastic. The 38-inch length seat is spacious and comfortable, and the special 'cradling' recline brought me a pleasant sleep up in the air.

The IFE was great due to the 8-inch screen and the wide choice of movies and TV shows.

I highly recommend Eva Air's premium economy to everyone whose budget is free enough for enjoying a great standard of service.

I was on an upgrade to Biz class from Heathrow to Taipei. I wish I had stayed in their excellent deluxe economy. Why ? Well the racket from staff stacking dishes seemed to go on all night. I don't think anyone had any decent sleep from the long faces of those I spoke to. It was dreadful, never experienced anything so bad before. The food from Heathrow to Bangkok was not suitable for a westerner. Even the crew said that they had complained to their H.Q. to no avail. They should or they will lose even more customers, they have lost me and the guy sitting next to me. To be told the " dishes were so delicious we just love it in Taiwan" did not go down well with people around, especially me I live there !. Seating was excellent, everything was on time, service so ,so, Bangkok to Taipei was good but staff not keen on giving service. I compared this flight with my husband who had travelled one week earlier and he found just the same, no sleep and poor food, so much better in deluxe economy I had good food and good sleep there and excellent happy service.

Premium Laurel (business) LHR - BKK - LHR. Found the seat and space in cabin great. Service great. Some people complain about sliding down the seat in sleep position, I didn't suffer myself - made good use of the extra memory foam pillow they offer - make sure to take one and pop it under your legs. Worked for me. Will fly again.

Had a return trip Taipei, Heathrow recently. Loved the seating very comfortable .

I was in the last row of two seats. Felt the leg room a little short and the rear seat did not go back as other seating in the area. Would prefer to sit more foreward on future trips. By far the best airline seating for the price and the service was fantastic.

Shall use Eva on all my trips in the future, Cabin staff were outstanding.

spidergirl flew Eva Air Super Business (business short haul), on a A320-200 (06/03/2009 08:15)

Was on BR 852 travelled on Feb 25 from HK to Taipei, I must say the service was good, we went to the Plaza Premium Lounge's Eva Air's special lounge area, the ambience of the lounge is good, waitress verycourteous and this extends to onboard with the air stewardess as well. We had asked for vegetarian meal, it is simple but tasty. Returning on BR 857 on Feb 27th, I went to the Eva Air's lounge in Taipei Taoyuan Airport, it is quite full but I made full use of my time to check my work email at their work station. Service is good though there is no upper class, it is quite quiet as well. Magazine selection was mostly Chinese but glad to see a copy of Business Traveller available.

furball flew Eva Air Premium Laurel (business), on a B777-300ER (01/03/2009 22:10)

I was pleased to see the flight back to Hong Kong from Taipei was on a B777-300ER, with the new seats in Premium Laurel Class (business class on EVA Air) unlike on the flight I took four days ago from Hong Kong to Taipei, which was still using the old product. My previous trips to Taipei have all used the old seating, which looks shabby and feels creaky. The new upholstery still sported the familiar combination of dark and light green but in refreshed tones.

At the check in, I asked and got a window seat, which was 9A on the left side of the cabin. The configuration is of the 2-2-2 type. As has been usual on my trips to Taipei, business class was again hardly full. Perhaps, since the journey is only about an hour and 15 minutes, people prefer to save money and go premium economy or economy, much ore so in these tight times.

Eva Air's Evergreen Laurel Class uses the shell-type of seat whose back end no longer reclines tilting backwards but instead slides downward, saving on precious space. I was a bit annoyed though to find you couldn't store any belongings such as my treasured laptop in the space on the floor in front of me as is possible in other aircraft. Anyway, the attendant quickly spotted my predicament and reached for my computer bag, my handbag and a plastic bag with some souvenirs placing them in the overhead compartment which I would have had a hard reaching due to my height. The same young lady helped me retrieve some personal items I needed from overhead once we had stabilised enroute.

In need of the washroom? You won't have to walk far if you are in 9A as it's just behind it. And you'll love EVA Air's loos which are the roomiest so far that I've experienced at 39,000 feet. They can even accommodate two (thin) people comfortably. On the older planes, there is even a window!

Examining my seat, I found a reading light by my shoulder whose neck could be adjusted as well as a privacy wall that retracts and can be pulled out if needed. Reading material is found in a slot on the seat in front of you as is a coat hook. The seat-back monitor was of a good size that you don’t have to squint. Graphics were very clear.

Alas, there was no time to enjoy the inflight entertainment or even a nap as once we were served a meal and were about to settle in, the captain came on the PA system to thank the us for taking EVA Air and inform us that we would be descending in 10 minutes.

I am looking forward to trying EVA Air next time for a longer flight. I just hope they have the new business class seats.
