Continental Airlines (airline code CO) is a US-based airline founded in 1934.
Ownership
Continental Airlines Inc is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the name United Continental Holdings (UCH) as it has now completed its merger with United Airlines and will use the trade name United Airlines as well as eventually operating under a single, United branded, livery.
Passengers will continue to see the UA and CO airline codes at airports until United Continental Holdings receive the Single Operating Certificate (SOC) from the Federal Aviation Administration. This is expected by the end of this year and therefore by the first quarter of 2012, when most of UCH's flights will operate under the UA code instead of the CO code.
Route Network
Continental's main hubs are at New York's Newark Liberty International airport (Newark, New Jersey), George Bush International airport (Houston, Texas), and Cleveland Hopkins International airport (Cleveland, Ohio).
Since the merger the combined airline is able to reach as many as 370 destinations and has acquired additional hubs at Chicago O'Hare, Denver, Washington Dulles, San Francisco and Los Angeles. To see where Continental Airlines flies, click here.
