Bangkok Airways

Bangkok Airways (airline code PG) is a privately-owned Thai airline which aims mainly at the leisure traveller. Originally set up as Sahakol Air in 1968, the airline's current fleet comprises only short-haul aircraft, but there are plans to eventually fly long-haul services, including London. 

Ownership

The airline is owned by former surgeon Dr Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth , who has a 92.% stake. Another 4% is held by Sahakol Estate, with Bangkok Dusit Medical Services having just over 1% and other shareholders 2.19%. Cambodia's Siem Reap Airways is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bangkok Airways.

Route Network

Bangkok Airways is based at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International airport. The airline also owns Samui, Trat and Sukhothai airports. Its network covers all the major resort destinations in Thailand, plus Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, The Maldives, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, China, and Japan.

Other Information

Bangkok Airways styles itself as a "boutique" airline, aiming at a standard of service that is above its rivals. Economy passengers have access to their own business class-style Boutique Lounges at airports offering free snacks, hot and cold drinks, internet access and a kids' corner. Business class passengers have a separate Blue Ribbon Club lounge.
