UPDATE March 23 2011: Bmi is to install new short-haul seating on its A319 and A320 aircraft, along with new carpets, curtains, bulkheads and a “dynamic new lighting system”, by summer 2011.

We have called this "short-haul", but note that BMI currently has two main products in both economy and business depending on whether the route is considered short haul or mid-haul.

bmi's short-haul economy class offers a seat pitch of 31 or 32 inches depending on which aircraft you fly on. Seats on bigger aircraft have a footrest.

Passengers must pay for food, but those travelling on flexible tickets get priority seating and check-in plus advance seat selection at the time of booking and complimentary food and drink in-flight.

The mid haul fleet which means the seven A321 aircraft and two of the A320 aircraft which are used for mid-haul routes are currently having a refresh of their onboard seating, which will be completed by May 2012.

The total charges... more

LHR-TXL 31-12-2011. On an A319. New looking interior of leather trim. Business class seats were wider and a bit more leg room but not that much bigger than economy. Reasonable legroom in economy. Seats were comfortable even with me as I have a slipped disc!! All in comfortable and of course was on time as usual for bmi. more
