Air China's new long-haul business class seat is an inclined flat-bed with a 170-degree incline. The seat has a 15-inch pull-out video screen with a fully interactive entertainment system and a computer power connection.

Note, however, that older aircraft will have an older style seat - the armchair-style cradle variety that most airlines have phased out.

Airbus A330-300s, A330-200s and Boeing 777-300ERs have the new style pod seat, but some older Boeing 777-200s still have the old variety, as do the 747s. These have a comparatively small 42-inch pitch, although the 747 offers 60 inches.

Aircraft used on shorter flights, such as the 747-Combi and the 767 offer a more basic business class. The Combi offers only 38 inches, the 767-300 an inch more and the 767-300ER 57 inches. The Airbus A340 has lie-flat seats with a 58-inch pitch.

Short-haul aircraft use the same style of seat as found in the older long-haul cabins. The pitch varies from 36-38 inches on A320s. On most other aircraft it is a standard 38 inches, but on Airbus A319s, it is 41 inches.

Wingtips flew Air China Business class, on a B737-300

I hear Air China is phasing out their B737s, and they should because the aircraft I took from Hong Kong to Tianjin on November 30 featured shabby (but neat) interiors, which doesn't fit their image as the flagship of a global economic powerhouse. The business class product was showing a lot of wear and tear, what more the seats in economy. (I didn't bother to... more
